A Welcome from Our New Chiropractor – Kristin!
As an evidence-based chiropractor, my main goal in treating patients is to gets results while educating them on the importance of physical fitness. Many aches and pains that affect our bodies can be relieved with proper strength and mobility training. Seeing a chiropractor who is skilled in custom exercise prescription is a great place to start when taking control of your own health and wellness.
Coming from a sports background, I learned in my teen years how important movement is for our bodies. Subsequently, I learned in my busy college years how detrimental the lack of movement is for our bodies. The importance of exercise in healthcare has been understated for decades, and as a chiropractor I want to help emphasize its significance.
My treatment as a chiropractor goes further than just “popping” joints and sending you out the door. While I believe in the effectiveness of a manual adjustment, I also believe we can be our bodies’ worst enemies. Adding proper strength and mobility training into our lifestyles can help reduce pain and improve function in our bodies, which is why I include it in all of my patient care plans.
A chiropractic examination with me goes further than just what is and is not moving. I am assessing the factors in the body which may be be causing pain or dysfunction and treating them with a combination of manual therapy and exercise prescription. Manual therapy may include chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue techniques like movement-based release and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization. But that is just the first part of the treatment plan. As a chiropractor, I acknowledge the deficits in the body which may be leading to dysfunction in the body and aim to restore function by increasing physical fitness. Your treatment plan as my patient will often include a combination of strength training and mobility training. This is not a cookie cutter approach, but rather custom tailored to each individual’s needs.
Taking control of your health doesn’t have to mean marathon running or Olympic lifting. By working with a skilled evidence-based chiropractor, you can learn lifestyle tweaks and simple exercises to incorporate into your day that will make a significant difference in your body. If you are considering seeing a chiropractor, I highly recommend seeing one who will assess the whole body’s function while prescribing exercises that will make a difference for you.
